Ceiling Fans
Article: Jasmine Evaristo

The ceiling fan has always been a practical, yet humble method of cooling; an impediment on customized home décor. However, these ceiling fixtures are transforming into works of art – a point of conversation. Today’s ceiling fan designs have become impressively stylish – and remain humble while doing so.

There’s no longer a need to compromise the style of a home by implementing a ceiling fan into a room. Now, ceiling fans come in a wide variety of designs, sizes and colors that can support thematic elements of a room. Whether a home has a plush interior theme, or an arty ambiance, or sports a minimalist appearance, ceiling fans have been revamped to become an artistic extension of a home’s interior design.

Plus, modern ceiling fan designs are fitted with light kits, which come in a variety of contemporary designs, from brass to chrome to a brushed pewter finish that will give a distinctive decorative touch to any room they are fixed in.

The sleek, artistic designs of ceiling fans aren’t the only icebreakers in conversations. The functionality of ceiling fans has been given an upgrade as well, due to society’s growing concern of the environment. Additionally, with the increasing costs of electrical utilities and gas, families are finding that running their air conditioners has become too expensive.

The modern designs of ceiling fans that are available these days are far more sophisticated than the models of the past. Over the years, companies have improved their motor systems to be engineered for energy efficiency. Some are also backed with the EnergyStar label that is, on average, 50 percent more efficient than conventional units. For pennies a day, ceiling fans will stir up cool breezes in the hot summer, and force warm air downward in the cold winter, decreasing the demand on your heating and cooling systems, and lowering energy bills.

The convenience provided by modern ceiling fan designs adds to the luxury of a home. Similarly to other home appliances that have been designed for leisure, today’s fans can be operated with the press of a button. Remote controls allow for a homeowner to operate a ceiling fan while lounging comfortably on a couch watching TV. Ceiling fan remote controls also come with various temperature and speed settings, and the ability to reverse blade direction, making for the ultimate in convenience.

For homeowners to get their money’s worth; the optimum usage from their ceiling fans, it’s ideal to run them seasonally. During the summer, run the fan counterclockwise to create a cool breeze that circulates air throughout the home. Operating the ceiling fan clockwise will force warm air that has accumulated up in the ceiling downward during the colder winter months. Keep in mind that fans mounted on ceilings higher than eight feet require more speed to circulate the air.

Ceiling fans have been elevated to new heights (pun intended) in style and comfort, ergo, homeowners have many reasons to keep the gentle whirl of a ceiling fan circulating in their homes. ///
