The Drive Against Birth
Defects and Infant Mortality
One of El Paso’s most exciting fundraisers, the 5th Annual Signature Chefs Auction held last November, featured the cuisine from 10 of El Paso’s top restaurants and food preparation facilities. It was fun, it was delicious and it raised $99,382 in 2009 for the March of Dimes.

There were Thai delectables, baked whole salmon, desserts that could easily become your main course and creative presentations to make a connoisseur drool. Food preparation participants included Francisco Rosales from Wyndham, Jorge Lara from Morrison Healthcare, Victor Miranda from Camino Real, Laura Gonzalez from El Paso Country Club, Bill Austin from Mesa Street Bar and Grill, Roy Rosales from Delaney’s, Marcello Grieco from Marcello’s Restaurante, Raul Gonzalez from Ruli’s International Kitchen, Sai Pituk and Tori Suebsang from Tara Thai Restaurant and Carolyn Cannoy of Cloud 9 Cakery Bakery Boutique.
And the motorcycle that was being auctioned? The high bidder for the Harley Davidson was Jerry Velarde. The proceeds raised at the evening event help prevent birth defects and infant mortality, a very good cause. The March for Babies held each spring is another important function and fundraiser for the March of Dimes. /// |
