The El Paso Wind Symphony kicked off its 2011-2012 season on December 2nd at UTEP's Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall. This year's concert series is entitled "A Spicy Season" and the theme for the opening night was "Winter Paradise." Spirits were lifted high throughout the evening as the band performed an entertaining medley of holiday inspired tunes to a packed house of appreciative listeners.
In 1995, Dr. Ron Hufstader established the El Paso Wind Symphony, a professional concert band composed of music teachers and business people from the greater El Paso area. This ensemble now has a subscription season of five concerts and in 2006 was invited to perform for the Texas Bandmasters Association Band Symposium. The primary purposes of the group are 1) to present concerts of quality wind literature to the public on a professional level; 2) to provide educational opportunities for middle school, high school, and college instrumental students; and 3) to provide a role model for middle school, high school, and college band programs. ///
