VIDA BUENA - SPECTATOR SPORTS & ATHLETICS
The Borderland region and the Mesilla Valley have strong ties to their athletic teams and sporting events. Our devotion to sports is largely founded on the college athletic programs of UTEP and NMSU, and we do love our Aggies and Miners with a passion. Of course the biggest college football game played here every year is the nationally televised Sun Bowl. CBS has broadcast this game to the nation annually since 1968. Professional athletics are represented in our region as well. Both El Paso and Las Cruces are home to independent pro baseball teams (the Diablos and Vaqueros respectively) and the Chivas El Paso Patriots represent us in the USL (United Soccer League) Premier Development League. |
